• About Department

    The department of Electronics and Communication (EC) has been an integral part right from inception of the institute in 2007. The Department offers an Under Graduate program in Electronics and Communication with an intake of 120 students every year, and Post Graduate program in Electronics and Communication with an intake of 24 students every year. Since its commencement, the primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education, training and research at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in various areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering with broad emphasis on design aspects of electronic systems.
    Excellence in teaching is the hallmark of the department and is reflected in the success of students result. The major areas of faculty expertise of the department include Communication Systems, Computer Networks, Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing, Instrumentation, Multimedia Security, Power Electronics, RF and Microwaves, Speech Signal Processing, VLSI Systems.
    The major goal of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is to produce highly knowledgeable, competent and resourceful young engineers who can perform well in a wide variety of job profiles. To achieve this, department invites experts from IIT/NIT/ R&D labs/ Industry for conducting expert lectures/ value aided courses. These courses help in updating the knowledge of all concerned and forms a strong foundation in both the analytical and technological aspects of EC. It also provides ample opportunities to students to work on mini-projects, develop communication skills, explore internship opportunities in industry and world-class universities and take part in national & international design contests.
    Other than technical education, department has always been in concern with the personality development of the students. Every year department organizes Tech-Fest which includes curricular, sports and co-curricular activities. It motivates students to explore their talent in various fields.

    Department of Electronics & Communication is an integral part of the T.I.T. (Excellence). Excellence in teaching is the hallmark of department. It was established with a vision and efforts of faculty members. It is developed as a family and follow the “Never Give Up” strategy. It has followed a completely distinctive path of providing young, dynamic approach engineers that are global in attitude and can fit in any industry and research area.

    Department produce engineers to work at the forefront of communication industry, developing technologies for wireless and high speed communication. A career in electronics engineering offers variety of challenges and stimulations. Studying for a degree in electronics and communication engineering is not just the pathway to a rewarding career, but also offers an intellectually demanding and exciting opportunity to breakthrough boundaries in research.

    The main objective of the department is to develop qualified technical personnel with a strong background on basic engineering principles, innovative technical skills and exemplary professional conduct to be utilized for the betterment of the society. We focus on applying theory to real engineering problems and technologies combining the professional engineering skills with scientific and research methods.

    1.Electronics Devices and Circuits Lab

    This Lab includes Electronics Circuit, Electronics Devices and Design Laboratory. This Lab consists of all types of measuring instruments and cathode ray oscilloscope, Power Supply, Multimeters, function generators and various types of experiment kits. This Laboratory is specially designed to enhance the capabilities of the students for designing basic analog circuits like oscillators, multivibrators, amplifiers, drivers etc.

    2. Communication Lab

    The experiments in this laboratory enable the students to gather basic knowledge on communication systems. Here they can perform different experiments which are the fundamental blocks of any communication system used now-a-days. The experiments include study of AM, FM, ASK, FSK, PSK, PAM, PWM, TDM, FDM etc. Advance Communication Lab comprises of Data Communication Trainer, LAN Trainer, Advance controller network trainer, ISDN training system, CDMA trainer.

    3. Digital Circuits Lab

    Introduction to the vast world of digital electronics is given in this laboratory. Students learn to design different combinational circuits like Adder/ Subtractor, Encoder/Decoder, and Code converters. They also learn to design and analyze sequential circuits like Registers/Counters, Analog to Digital Converter and Digital to Analog Converter. It can support different experiments using discrete components and ICs, which are commonly used in industries and laboratories.

    4. Microprocessor systems Lab

    Microprocessor Systems Laboratory is well equipped to do all experiments in 8085 and 8086. 8051 microcontroller trainers and EPROM programmer are provided for carrying out projects. In this laboratory students get their first exposure on the programming of microprocessors like 8085 and 8086. They also perform different application programming such as interfacing many peripherals like display, Stepper motor controller etc. A huge scope of project work lies in this laboratory.

    5. Microwave & Antenna Lab

    Microwave Test Benches operating in the X band with all the associated components and facility to conduct experiments using Gunn Oscillator and Klystron Oscillator Sources enable the students to carry out a variety of experiments. It also includes different practical antennas such as dipoles, Yagi-Uda, Parabolic Reflector, Helical, Loop and Horn antennas that provide facilities to carry out radiation pattern measurements and observing antenna characteristics like directivity, gain, beam width etc.

    6. Digital Signal Processing Lab

    DSP lab is a software and hardware lab. MATLAB software is used in the experiments and to generate input signals to the DSP and to design the filters used in the various hardware examples. The hardware experiments are real-time sample-by-sample processing examples and include aliasing and quantization effects; the circular buffer implementation of delays, FIR, and IIR filters.

    7. Communication Networks and Transmission Lines Lab

    Network Laboratory helps the students to study and analyze the behavior of various network nodes, links, stub and impedance matching etc. Students can also perform the experiments on phase and angle displacement, VSWR measurement, behavior of transmission lines, fault localization and various types of filters.

    8. Instrumentation and Measurement Lab

    Objective of this laboratory is to make the students conversant with the industrial instruments, which are used to measure electrical and non-electrical quantities like resistance, capacitance, frequency, temperature, pressure, flow, level moisture etc. This lab includes study of DC & AC bridges, LVDT, CRO, Function Generator, ADC and DAC. The students are taught about how the instruments are calibrated, maintained through different experimental set-ups. This laboratory familiarizes the students with different static & dynamic characteristics of instruments.

    9. VLSI and Software lab

    Software such as MATLAB, XILINX are taught to the students in this lab to enable them to design, analyze & simulate and even compare with industrial SIMUCAD tool for design digital, analog and mixed VLSI circuits. FPGA SPARTAN-3 trainer and CPLD proto board to perform various experiments of the curriculum.

    10. Basic Electronics Lab

    This laboratory is meant for enhancement of fundamental ideas about the basic electronic circuits and components. It can support different experiments on diodes, transistors, FETs, amplifiers, OP-AMPs and various other experiments also.

    11. Project Lab

    This laboratory comprises of Designing and Simulation Software, PROTO- ETCH Etching machine, PCB Drilling machine, PCB Sheering Machine, IC tester, different types of Analog and Digital ICs and various electronic components to implement student’s ideas. This laboratory can also support many experiments and new ideas which are evolved in the mind of students. Student learns all aspects of design, implementation, fabrication and simulation of engineering projects. This has been found to give immense practical utility to the students in their future career.

  • Future of Electronics and Communication Engineering

    With the evolution of the computer age, Electronics & Communication has crept into every sphere of human life, thus increasing its scope manifolds. Electronics is now a part of our everyday life, from pocket FM radio to televisions, computers, mobile phones and even the high-end satellites that are helping us in every path.

    Today’s world is coming up with new technological advancements every day. These new developments are done by the engineers turned scientists. In bringing their own thoughts in the world’s next brilliant technological advancement and this path can be achieved by producing quality Electronics & Communication Engineers. In-depth knowledge is required for such tasks and this further divides Electronics & Communication into various sub fields. This field has a great scope in India & other countries.

    There is bound to be huge demand for competent engineers in electronic industry to cope this demand in technology. The engineers would be involved in sustaining cutting edge technology to stay ahead in competition. An electronic engineer can find a job in Consumer electronics manufacturing organization , Telecommunication & IT industries, Health care equipment manufacturing , Mobile communication(2G,3G,4G), Internet technologies, Power Electronics, and other industries like steel, petroleum and chemical industry, directing control and testing production process. Electronics and Communication Engineers are acquired by top recruiters (both private and government) like DMRC, Siemens, Motorola, Intel, Texas Instruments, BEL, ISRO, DRDO, Accenture, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Samsung, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, TCS, MTNL, AIR, BSNL, Indian Air force, Indian Navy, Railways, Bharat Electronics Ltd and Flextronics and Philips Electronics. They may also work with computers and electronic equipment in the medical, manufacturing, industrial control, telecommunications, aeronautical and military fields.

    All these developments have been fuelled by advances in communications technology new protocols and coding schemes, new ways to represent video, images and speech as data, new means of delivering this information to users via cable, fibre, and increasingly via radio are constantly being emerged.

    Activities organized by the departments:

    1. The department regularly organizes Technical Event every year in which paper presentation and other technical activities are conducted.
    2. The department organizes Guest Lectures of Experts from NIT’s and IIT’s.
    3. The department organizes technical workshops so that Students will be more comfortable with practical aspects on communication engineering, which are useful for their Industrial Exposure.
